Standing Tall: Redeemer Lives the Word
Theology Tuesday #12
Over the past eleven weeks, we’ve journeyed through Scripture’s significance in the life of Redeemer. We began by making much of Jesus, highlighting how God’s Word reveals His nature as Mediator and Savior. From there, we explored how creation hints at God’s glory but can’t save us, why we trust the 66-book canon, and why we resist adding extra texts like the Apocrypha. We delved into Scripture’s divine authority (God speaks, we listen), the Holy Spirit’s role in sealing its truth on our hearts, and the Bible’s all-sufficiency for faith and life. We learned that while some verses challenge us, the core message of salvation is plain, that God’s Word has been preserved and translated for every nation, and that Scripture ultimately interprets itself. Finally, we saw that it outranks every other voice—traditions, councils, or opinions.
Throughout each topic, one constant emerged: Scripture points us to Jesus. He is the centerpiece of God’s grand redemption story, the reason we gather, worship, and serve. Week after week, we’ve been reminded that God’s Word is not merely a historical text but a living testimony that shapes our worship, discipleship, and mission. It’s the stable foundation on which we stand, echoing Jesus’ words in Matthew 7:24–25: if we build our lives on His teaching, we stand firm when storms arise.
So where do we go from here? We encourage every member of our Redeemer family to read the Bible regularly, obey what it teaches, and share its life-giving message “to the ends of the earth.” Whether you’re diving into a new reading plan, opening Scripture with your Gospel Community, or discussing biblical truth with a neighbor who’s seeking hope, let the Word be your guide. Our theology doesn’t end in theory—it fuels our disciple-making mission. As we internalize Scripture, we’re better equipped to display Christ’s love in our relationships, workplaces, and beyond.
Think back to our first post: making much of Jesus is at the heart of every page of the Bible. Standing on God’s Word means we let it shape our worldview, ignite our compassion, and move us to proclaim the good news. We do this in the confidence that God’s Word will accomplish its purpose (Isaiah 55:11), drawing people to repentance and new life in Christ.
“Rooted in Scripture, Redeemer proclaims Jesus to all.” That’s our collective prayer and commitment. May we continue building our house on this Rock, inviting others to discover the One who holds all truth and grace. Together, let’s live the Word we’ve studied, trusting God to shine through us as we make much of Jesus—today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.
