Green Pastures: Rest That Heals

Sabbath Saturday #12

Ever just need to breathe? We’ve all experienced it—moments when life races faster than our souls can handle, and our hearts feel starved for a pause. It’s as if God knew we’d need a reminder that true rest doesn’t come from simply stopping our activity, but from being led by Someone who deeply cares for us.

This Sabbath Saturday, hear God’s gentle invitation in Psalm 23:2:

“He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.”

Notice how beautifully intentional that image is—God not merely offering rest but actively leading us into it. Jesus, our Good Shepherd, knows the places in your heart needing His restorative touch. He knows exactly where your wounds are, where your fears hide, and what’s exhausting your spirit. He invites you to a rest that doesn’t just pause your busyness but heals and refreshes your soul.

Last week, we spoke about soul rest, trusting Jesus moment-by-moment. Now, picture Him guiding you further into rest, into lush fields of peace and beside calm waters of renewal. He isn't rushing you to "get it all together." Instead, He gently encourages you to let go and trust Him, fully.

At Redeemer, we know this healing rest transforms how we worship together. Tomorrow, as you gather, imagine standing alongside your church family with a heart that’s rested, refreshed, and restored. Imagine praising God from a place of wholeness because you've allowed Jesus to lead you into His restful care today.

Today’s Sabbath encouragement is simple yet profound: pause. Take a breath. Trust that Jesus is lovingly guiding you into rest that restores your heart. He’s not asking for your performance; He’s inviting you into healing.

As you rest in Jesus today, tomorrow’s worship becomes a joyful response—less hurried, less anxious, deeply genuine, and beautifully restored.
