Soul Rest: Trusting Jesus Daily
Sabbath Saturday #11
What’s tugging at your soul today? You know—that inner restlessness, the silent weight that never seems fully lifted. We’ve all felt it: worries that won’t quiet, burdens that keep resurfacing, fears that whisper we’re not quite enough. Yet Jesus speaks directly to this deep place inside each of us, promising true rest—not superficial calm, but rest that settles into our very souls.
Hear His invitation clearly in Matthew 11:29:
“Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me… and you will find rest for your souls.”
Last week, we discovered lasting peace with God—peace that holds firm through life’s ups and downs. This week, Jesus takes it even deeper. He’s not only promising peace around you but peace within you. True soul rest isn’t found by checking all the boxes, controlling outcomes, or conquering anxieties. It’s found by trusting Jesus daily—moment by moment—as the keeper of your life.
Picture this: Instead of gripping tighter to everything you worry might slip away, you loosen your grip and place those cares directly into Jesus’ hands. It might feel risky at first, but then you sense the incredible freedom of no longer bearing the weight alone. This is precisely the kind of rest Jesus offers—rest that gently but surely reshapes the rhythm of your heart.
At Redeemer, we long for this deep soul rest to become a daily reality for each of us. Imagine gathering tomorrow, lighter and freer, fully ready to sing praises because you've already let go of your burdens today.
So, here’s your gentle invitation this Sabbath Saturday: choose just one care that's been tugging at you and intentionally give it to Jesus. He’s more than capable, and He truly wants to carry it.
As you rest in His strength today, tomorrow’s worship becomes not just routine, but joyful. Not hurried, but deeply satisfying. Not forced, but genuine.
Jesus soothes our souls—let that truth quiet you today, and lift your voice in grateful praise tomorrow.
