The Lifelong Mission: Partnership as Ongoing Discipleship

Membership Monday #12

We’ve spent the past several weeks exploring every piece of Covenant Partnership—from Sunday worship and Gospel Communities to signing the covenant and navigating conflict. But here’s the key takeaway: membership isn’t the finish line; it’s the starting line for a lifelong journey of discipleship together. Becoming a Covenant Partner doesn’t mean you’ve “arrived.” Rather, it positions you in a community that’s committed to growing in Christ for the long haul.

At Redeemer, we cling to Philippians 1:6, confident that God, who began a good work in us, will carry it on to completion. How do we participate in that work? We gather on Sundays to center our week on Jesus, plug into Gospel Communities for deeper relationships, serve with our gifts so the body flourishes, re-covenant each year to stay aligned, and handle conflicts biblically when they arise. All of this might sound like a big to-do list, but the heartbeat behind it is simple: Jesus is worth it. This local church family provides the day-to-day context where we practice selfless love, study God’s Word, bear one another’s burdens, and shine the gospel to those still far from God.

Think of it this way: becoming a Covenant Partner means joining a story bigger than yourself—God’s grand narrative of redeeming a people for His glory. We’re not just spiritual consumers; we’re active participants in building a culture of grace, truth, and mission. Whether you’re brand-new to church life or a seasoned believer, Redeemer offers a place to grow, serve, and walk in discipleship for years to come.

So, if you haven’t taken those next steps yet, now is the time to jump in. Make Sunday gatherings a priority (it all starts with worship). Sign up for a Gospel Community (it’s where real life change happens). Attend our membership class, share your story in a relaxed Q&A with staff, sign the Covenant Partnership Form, and discover the joy of fully belonging. You might be surprised how God uses your gifts, experiences, and passions to encourage others.

We hope this Membership Monday series has provided clarity about the joy and purpose behind Covenant Partnership at Redeemer. More importantly, we pray it’s sparked a greater love for Christ and His people in your heart. Wherever you find yourself on this journey—just checking out Redeemer, or almost ready to sign—know that we’re here, cheering you on every step of the way.

Let’s keep making much of Jesus—together. Because in the end, that’s what truly matters: a church family, running hard after Christ, fulfilling His mission, and celebrating the grace that knits us into one. Soli Deo Gloria!
