Church + Home: A Team Effort

Family Friday #10

Ever feel like you're going solo in this journey of raising your family to follow Jesus? The good news is, you're not meant to carry that responsibility alone. God’s perfect design has always involved teamwork: your home and your church working hand-in-hand to cultivate deep, lasting faith.

Ephesians 4:12 paints a vivid picture of this partnership:

“...to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.”

Notice that word, equip. At Redeemer, we deeply believe in the power of your home as the center of discipleship. But homes thrive most when they're equipped, encouraged, and strengthened by the local church. Sundays at Redeemer aren’t meant to replace family discipleship; they're meant to fuel it—giving parents the tools, truth, and encouragement needed to bring the gospel into the daily rhythms of life.

Think of it this way: the church gathers on Sunday to worship, learn, and celebrate Jesus together. Then, families scatter into their homes, neighborhoods, schools, and workplaces, carrying with them what they've received. It’s a beautiful rhythm of gathering and scattering, each one fueling the other, with Christ at the center.

When church and home sync up, kids begin to see faith as something powerful, meaningful, and life-giving—not just something reserved for Sunday mornings. They see that Jesus matters not only in sermons and songs, but also in car rides and conversations, soccer practices and bedtime stories.

This week, make it a point to worship together as a family at Redeemer. Then afterward, take a moment—maybe over lunch or dinner—to talk about what stood out. Ask simple questions like, "What did you hear about Jesus today?" or "How did today’s message encourage you?"

When home and church partner together, faith isn't something that fades away Monday morning—it grows stronger all week long.
