From Strangers to Family: What’s a Gospel Community?
Together Thursday #1
Have you ever felt like a face in the crowd, even at church—wondering if anyone really knows your name or story? At Redeemer, we believe Jesus wants more for us than passing hellos on Sunday. He calls us into Gospel Communities—smaller gatherings that turn strangers into family, where real conversations happen, messy struggles are shared, and love is more than a polite handshake.
In Acts 2:46–47, we see a beautiful snapshot of the early Church. They met day by day, breaking bread in their homes with glad and generous hearts. It wasn’t a manufactured program; it was an authentic community shaped by the gospel. That’s our heart, too. We don’t want you to just show up for a service; we want you to belong—to find a spiritual home where people know you, pray for you, and celebrate when God moves in your life.
Gospel Communities at Redeemer gather weekly—often in someone’s living room—to talk through Scripture, pray for each other, and sometimes share a meal. It’s an environment that promotes vulnerability and growth, where deacons help ensure that no one slips through the cracks and every need can be lifted to Jesus. We all bring our stories, questions, and imperfections, trusting that Christ meets us in the midst of everyday life.
Why does this matter for the broader church experience? Because discipleship isn’t a spectator sport. You can’t FULLY develop your faith by simply listening to a sermon once a week. Gospel Communities give you a chance to dialogue, ask questions, and process how Sunday’s truths translate into Monday’s challenges. Together, we help each other apply the gospel to relationships, work, finances—every aspect of life—so that we’re truly making much of Jesus not just on Sundays, but day in and day out around Wichita Falls.
“Day by day… with glad and generous hearts…”
(Acts 2:46)

If you’ve been craving more than a quick hello, it’s time to visit a Gospel Community this week. See what it’s like to move from being just another face in the crowd to belonging to a spiritual family.
Remember, Jesus is the One who knits us together. In a Gospel Community, you’ll discover genuine friendships, deeper discipleship, and a place to share your story. Don’t stay on the sidelines—step in and see how He makes us one. We’d love to walk alongside you on this journey of faith.
