Feasting on His Grace Together

Worship Wednesday #9

Ever notice how a simple meal can bring people closer? At Redeemer, we believe that Communion—the Lord’s Supper—is more than a symbolic ritual. It’s a weekly moment (per our Sunday Worship Details) where we lift Jesus’ finished work front and center. We come together to remember His sacrifice, celebrate His victory, and share in the grace He freely gives.

1 Corinthians 10:17 says, “Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread.” That verse captures the essence: though we come from diverse backgrounds and life experiences, the act of breaking bread unites us as God’s family. It’s not just individual worship—we are joined together in a tangible expression of gospel unity. As a Gospel-Centered church, we see this as a beautiful reflection of Jesus’ love, bridging differences and forging deeper bonds.

Why make it a focal point every week? For one, it’s a reminder that Christ’s sacrifice wasn’t just a historical event—it’s powerfully relevant today. When we say we’re a disciple-making family, we mean we keep the cross and resurrection at the center of our mission. Communion helps us do that, pulling us back to the heartbeat of the gospel: Jesus died and rose to bring us from spiritual death to life in Him. In partaking of the bread and cup, we collectively proclaim, “We belong to Him, and we belong to each other.”

So how does this transform our weekly worship? First, it humbles us, reminding us that we’re all sinners saved by grace—no one is above another at the Lord’s Table. Second, it emboldens us, recalling that Jesus has already won the victory over sin and death. And finally, it sends us out, powered by the truth that the same grace we taste in communion is the grace we offer to a broken world in need of hope.

Call to Action:
Next Sunday, approach the Table with fresh gratitude. Reflect on how Christ’s body was broken for you, His blood shed to wash you clean. Ask the Holy Spirit to unite our church family even more, forging deeper relationships within your Gospel Community or ministry teams.

Final Encouragement:
Communion is more than a ritual or add-on. It’s a family meal, bringing us face-to-face with the living God whose grace never runs dry. As we “feast on His grace together,” we honor Jesus’ sacrifice, strengthen our bond, and carry His transforming love into every corner of our week.
