Done Deal: Jesus Finished It

Sabbath Saturday #5

Ever feel like it’s your job to fix everything—your struggles, your relationships, even your relationship with God? It’s exhausting, isn’t it? But what if the work that matters most was already finished?

On the cross, Jesus declared something that changes absolutely everything:

“It is finished.” (John 19:30)

These three words mean exactly what they say. Jesus didn’t say, “It’s almost finished,” or, “Your turn now.” He announced the complete fulfillment of everything necessary to bring you rest, peace, and relationship with God. All the striving, all the anxiety, all the pressure to measure up—it ended at the cross.

Last week, we saw Jesus as the real rest beyond shadows and rules. This week, we step further into the good news: our rest is secured because Jesus finished the work completely. You no longer have to scramble to earn God’s favor or patch together your peace. Your only task today is to trust that what Jesus did is enough.

At Redeemer Church, this truth shapes everything we do. Our worship tomorrow is a celebration, not of our effort, but of Jesus’ victory. Today, rest confidently in the finished work of Christ. You don’t have to fix it all. You can stop pushing and simply thank Him for doing what you never could.

Today’s takeaway is simple but profound: take a moment to thank Jesus for completing the work you could never finish. Then lay down the burden you’ve been carrying. He handled it completely.

Jesus paid for it. He finished it. Let that truth refresh you today and fuel your praise tomorrow.
