Abraham’s Way: Trust Starts Here

Family Friday #5

Have you ever wondered what kept Abraham’s family anchored in God’s promises—even through uncertainty, trials, and impossible circumstances? The answer is simpler than you might think, yet deeply powerful: Abraham’s trust in God was lived out right in front of his family’s eyes.

Genesis 18:19 says this clearly:

“For I have chosen him, that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord.”

Abraham didn’t just talk about trusting God; he modeled it vividly. When Isaac walked with Abraham up Mount Moriah, he saw firsthand his father’s unwavering trust, even in unimaginable circumstances. Abraham’s faith wasn’t theoretical—it was personal, visible, and tangible. His trust set a tone for Isaac, and then Jacob, creating a legacy of faith that echoed through generations.

Here’s the encouraging truth for you today: your home sets the tone for trust just like Abraham’s did. Every moment you demonstrate reliance on God’s goodness, provision, or comfort, your children are watching, absorbing, and learning. They’ll remember less about the sermons they hear, and more about the way you handled a tough day, a disappointment, or an answered prayer. Your faithfulness, even in small, everyday moments, becomes the building block for their lifelong trust in Christ.

At Redeemer, we believe trust isn’t something we simply teach—it’s something we live out daily. Your home can reflect this beautifully. Imagine your family as a small but mighty community of trust, where your kids grow up seeing parents who rely openly and joyfully on Jesus.

This week, choose one moment to intentionally show your kids what trust looks like. Maybe it’s praying together when uncertainty strikes, celebrating God’s provision visibly, or simply choosing gratitude even when things are challenging. Let them see you lean on Jesus.

The God who walked closely with Abraham walks with you, too. Trust Him openly—your kids are watching, learning, and following your lead.
