Week 13: Wednesday Discipleship Guide

  • Isaiah 53:4-6

    Surely he has borne our griefs
        and carried our sorrows;
    yet we esteemed him stricken,
        smitten by God, and afflicted.
    But he was pierced for our transgressions;
        he was crushed for our iniquities;
    upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
        and with his wounds we are healed.
    All we like sheep have gone astray;
        we have turned—every one—to his own way;
    and the Lord has laid on him
        the iniquity of us all.

  • 2 Corinthians 5:17-21

    Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

  • Q-How did Adam's actions affect everyone, and what did God do about it?

    A-Adam's disobedience brought sin and death into the world, affecting all mankind. In response, God sent Jesus Christ, whose obedience and sacrifice provide grace and justification, offering eternal life to everyone who believes.

  • Romans 5:19

    For as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous.
