The Word Alive: Unpacking Sunday Together
Together Thursday #9
Ever walked out of a sermon thinking, “That was great—but now what?” You felt stirred, encouraged, maybe even challenged. But by Monday afternoon, real life hits, and that powerful message starts fading into a distant memory.
At Redeemer, Gospel Communities exist to make sure that doesn’t happen. Each week, we open the Bible together, carefully digging into the Scripture that ties directly back to Sunday’s message. It’s not about repeating the sermon—it’s about going deeper. We ask four simple but powerful questions:
HEADS: "What do we learn from Jesus here?"
HEARTS: "How does this passage convict us to trust and love Jesus more deeply?"
HANDS: "What immediate step of obedience is Jesus calling us to?"
HABITS: "Is the Lord instructing us to adopt any new or renewed habits from this text?"
Notice, these are questions we should be asking every single time we open up God’s Word.
2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” Scripture isn’t just good information; it’s alive, active, and meant to transform us. In our GCs, the Bible isn’t merely a topic we study—it’s a conversation we enter into, as family. Together we wrestle with hard truths, celebrate profound promises, and look closely to see Jesus on every page.
And here’s the beauty of it: as we listen, share, question, and pray through these passages, our lives begin to shift. We start becoming people who don’t just hear the Word on Sunday but live it out on Tuesday afternoon, Thursday evening, and every moment in between.
This week, don’t let Sunday’s message remain a distant echo. Bring your questions, your insights, and even your uncertainties to your GC. Your honest questions might be exactly what someone else needs to hear to grow closer to Jesus.
Takeaway:
Bring a question from Sunday’s sermon to your Gospel Community this week. Watch how Scripture comes alive when we dig in together. Jesus speaks through His Word, clearly and powerfully. Let’s lean in, listen as family, and let it shape us into people who look more like Him every day.
