Seated in Rest: Jesus at God’s Right
Sabbath Saturday #6
Ever had one of those days—or weeks—when you just wish someone else could step in and handle everything? The pressures pile up, demands multiply, and rest feels impossible. But here’s good news: Someone already has taken over, and He’s got everything firmly under control.
Hebrews 10:12 tells us something remarkable about Jesus:
“When Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, He sat down at the right hand of God.”
Notice what Jesus did after finishing His work: He sat down. Not pacing nervously, not worrying about unfinished business, not scrambling to fix loose ends. Sitting down means the work is done—completely, perfectly, finally.
Last week, we celebrated that Jesus declared, “It is finished!” from the cross. This week, we rest in the powerful image of Him seated in heaven, perfectly calm and fully in control. He’s not overwhelmed by your problems, your failures, or your fears. Instead, He invites you to rest alongside Him.
At Redeemer Church, we embrace this deeply restful reality. Your peace doesn’t depend on your performance or your plans; it depends solely on Jesus, who is right now seated in power, lovingly guiding your life.
Today, as you prepare your heart for worship tomorrow, don’t rush. Take a moment, sit still, and let this truth soak in: Jesus has it all under control. You can let go, trust Him, and rest right now.
Here’s today’s takeaway: simply sit still. Even just for a moment, stop your striving and remind your heart that Jesus, seated at the Father’s right hand, holds your life securely.
Jesus rests, completely confident and fully victorious. Tomorrow, come join your church family to celebrate and rest in that victory together.
