No More Striving: Rest in Freedom

Sabbath Saturday #13

Tired of proving yourself? So many of us live exhausted lives, constantly feeling the pressure to measure up—to meet expectations at home, at work, even in our relationship with God. It's easy to believe that our value depends on how well we perform. But here's the beautifully freeing truth: Jesus has already done the work for us.

Hebrews 4:10 speaks clearly:

“For whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his own works as God did from his.”

This Sabbath Saturday, hear the liberating news: you don't have to earn God’s approval, prove your worth, or perform flawlessly. Jesus' finished work on the cross means you’re free to rest from the relentless cycle of striving. Weeks 7 through 9 taught us grace over law, Sabbath as a gift, and rest as a daily reality—all of these truths culminate right here. Today, rest isn’t about your productivity; it’s about your trust in Him.

At Redeemer, we embrace this freedom joyfully. We believe that the gospel doesn’t just save us—it frees us from the heavy burden of performance. Imagine stepping into Sunday worship without the anxiety of trying to earn a place at God’s table, but instead, confidently sitting as His child because Jesus made it possible.

Today’s invitation is to simply quit striving—choose one effort you've been anxiously holding onto and release it to Jesus. Maybe it’s perfection in parenting, excellence at work, or even a spiritual checklist you've been using to measure yourself. Let that go and rest fully in Christ’s finished work.

As you rest today, tomorrow’s worship becomes a celebration of true freedom, fully secured in Jesus. You don’t have to perform—you’re already loved, accepted, and welcomed.
