Made for You: Rest in His Heart

Sabbath Saturday #8

What if rest wasn't another item on your busy to-do list, but a generous gift from God’s own heart to yours? Imagine it—not something to achieve, but something to simply accept and enjoy.

Jesus gently reminds us in Mark 2:27:

“The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.”

Pause on that for a moment. The Sabbath—the idea of true rest—isn't about rigid rules or adding pressure to your life. Instead, it's about God's compassionate desire to refresh you, renew you, and remind you that you're deeply loved by Him.

Back in Week 2, we saw that Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath—He’s in charge, He sets the tone. And His tone isn’t harsh rules or heavy demands; it’s grace-filled invitation. He calls you away from chasing rest, and invites you to simply receive it as the gift it was always meant to be.

At Redeemer, we believe genuine rest is found in embracing Jesus’ heart for us. He doesn’t add burdens; He lifts them. He doesn’t impose rules; He offers relief. Today, trust Him with the weariness you're carrying. Exchange your stress for His peace. Let yourself breathe. Accept this Sabbath rest—not as obligation, but as a precious reminder that you’re loved.

So today, let rest come to you. Stop chasing what Jesus is freely giving. Tomorrow, come ready to worship at Redeemer—not weighed down, but refreshed by the restful heart of Christ.
