Jesus First: The Heart of Our Home
Family Friday #15
What if your home wasn’t just about chores, homework, bills, or Netflix—but all about Jesus? Imagine a house where every moment, big or small, pointed back to Him. This isn't an unrealistic dream; it's the joyful calling Jesus has placed on each of our households.
Colossians 3:17 beautifully sums up this vision:
“Whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
From Week 1’s call to parents as primary disciple-makers, through Abraham's legacy, Timothy's family, daily worship, and persevering through every season, everything leads us here: your home, at its very core, is a place for making much of Jesus. It’s a gospel household—a place where His grace isn’t just taught, but caught; where His love isn't just spoken about, but lived out daily.
This doesn’t mean you’ll get it perfect every day (spoiler: you won’t!). But it means that even your imperfections become opportunities to point back to His perfect love and grace. Every moment—from the joyful to the mundane, from the challenging to the celebratory—becomes a chance to demonstrate to your family that Jesus truly matters more than anything else.
Maybe this week your family act is something big—like inviting neighbors over for a meal, giving generously to someone in need, or serving together in the community. Or maybe it’s small—like pausing to pray before rushing out the door, or speaking words of grace and patience in a tough parenting moment. Whatever you do, when it's done intentionally for Christ, it becomes sacred.
The heart of a Redeemer family is always Jesus Himself—His gospel shapes our days, informs our decisions, and sustains us through trials. Our homes become places where Jesus is so clearly treasured, valued, and loved that anyone who walks in can't help but see Him reflected there.
So this week, make one intentional move to put Jesus at the center. Let’s not just say He's everything; let's live like it. After all, He's worthy of every moment, every decision, every heartbeat of our homes.
