All Hands on Deck:

A Heartfelt Call to Serve Our Redeemer Kids

Hello Again Redeemer Family,

I hope the previous conversation about the Planning Center resonated with you. We touched upon the importance of safety and seamless scheduling in our last discussion. Today, I'd like to talk more about why your commitment to Redeemer Kids is more important than ever.

Addressing Your Questions and Concerns

The Missing Calendar

I apologize for the hiccup regarding the visual calendar in the email. Several members reached out about not being able to see it. Hopefully, this will clear that up:

The High Call to Serve in Redeemer Kids

I've heard several of you ask, "Do I have to serve in Redeemer Kids?" He is our ask: For those who are covenant partners with us, we are asking you to consider serving in this crucial ministry. Why? Not to place a burden on you but to build our church as compassionate disciple-makers and prevent volunteer burnout.

The Weight of the Ask

We recognize that stepping into a Redeemer Kids classroom on a Sunday means stepping out of the corporate worship gathering. This is no small thing. Scripture reminds us not to forsake the gathering of believers, and so we understand that what we're asking is significant.

The Blessing in the Sacrifice

But here’s the beautiful paradox: In losing something, we gain immeasurably more. Jesus himself told us, "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me" (Matthew 25:40). When you step out of the worship gathering and into a Redeemer Kids classroom, you're not just telling stories or keeping an eye on our youngest members. You are part of the deep, holy work of shaping souls. You are planting seeds of the Gospel in fertile ground, seeds that we pray will grow into strong, faithful disciples.

The Gift of Shared Responsibility

Additionally, the more of us that participate in Redeemer Kids, the lighter the load for everyone involved. Service, in this sense, is not just an individual act but a corporate one. As we each do our part, the risk of burnout decreases, the quality of children’s ministry improves, and we come closer to embodying the gospel-centered, disciple-making family we pray to be.

Age Divisions and In-Service Participation

We're focusing on three classrooms for Redeemer Kids:

  1. Tiny Town for ages up to 3

  2. A classroom for 4 and 5-year-olds

  3. A classroom for 6 to 9-year-olds

At age 10, we have set the standard for children to join the worship gathering with their parents. And remember, kids are always welcome in our service. We have a designated area at the back with carpeting for families who prefer to worship together.

In Conclusion

This is a call to action, a heartfelt invitation to contribute your time and gifts to nourishing young souls. Let's continue to build a strong, loving community together.

In His Service and Yours,

Cody McMurray
