Week 23: Friday Discipleship

  • 2 Corinthians 5:14-17

For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.

From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

  • 2 Timothy 1:6-7

For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

  • Question: What is the church?

Answer: Because God is love, and through Christ’s sacrifice and the Spirit’s indwelling, we are His beloved people—called to display His love in all we do, not settle for shallow religion.

  • 1 John 4:9 (ESV)
“In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.”
