Week 10: Friday Discipleship
-
Isaiah 55:10-11
“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven
and do not return there but water the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout,
giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. -
James 2:21-24
Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works; and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a friend of God. You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.
-
Q-On what basis are we justified and made heirs of God's promises?
A-We are made right with God and receive His promises through faith alone—not by following the Law or doing good works. Just like Abraham trusted God and was counted righteous, we too are justified when we trust in Jesus Christ, who died and rose again to save us.

Galatians 3:29
