Pride that tries to make a name apart from God. The gospel declares that identity is received in Christ, not built by human achievement.
-
We were made to bear a Name before we ever built a thing. But when our hearts drift from God, we start stacking bricks—plans, platforms, reputations—trying to build the worth only He can give.
Genesis 11 shows what happens when a united humanity uses God’s gifts to dodge God’s rule: “Come, let us make… let us build… let us make a name for ourselves.” Then the hinge of mercy: “And the LORD came down.” God interrupts our ruin so His promise can still run. This week we’ll trade the name we try to make for the Name God gives—the only Name strong enough to unite what sin scattered. -
