No Lone Rangers: Why We Need Each Other
Together Thursday #13
Have you ever tried going it alone—certain you could manage, only to find yourself exhausted and hitting a wall? Most of us have been there, convinced we can handle things independently. But the truth is, following Jesus isn’t a solo sport. At Redeemer Church, discipleship means walking together, not alone.
Galatians 6:2 clearly tells us, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Notice it doesn’t say “bear your own burdens quietly” or “pretend everything’s fine.” Paul reminds us that leaning on each other is exactly how Jesus designed His church family. He knew we'd need encouragement, prayer, accountability, and shared joy to fully live out our faith.
That’s precisely what Gospel Communities (GCs) are for. These weekly gatherings are more than just Bible studies or social circles. They’re places where we genuinely support each other. When someone shares struggles with parenting, health concerns, or spiritual questions, they're met with grace and practical care. When there’s good news—a promotion, answered prayer, or a family milestone—the GC celebrates as if the joy is their own. We bear burdens and cheer wins together.
Why does this matter so much? Because when we carry each other’s burdens, we’re doing exactly what Jesus modeled for us. He bore our deepest burden—our sin—on the cross, offering freedom and grace. When we choose vulnerability and community, we echo His love, making it tangible in everyday life.
Maybe this week you’re facing something tough and you're tempted to go it alone. Or perhaps something wonderful happened, and you're quietly celebrating. Don’t isolate—bring it to your GC. Be courageous in sharing real life with your Gospel Community, knowing it fulfills Christ’s heart for His church.
Takeaway:
Open up with your GC this week—share a burden or a joy. Let them walk alongside you as Jesus intended.
