In our series through Romans, we’ve now arrived at Romans 8:1–4, but first, we recall how Paul began in Romans 1:1–6, 15—eager to preach the gospel he calls the very power of God. Why such enthusiasm? Because from Romans 1 through Romans 8, Paul unfolds the core of what this good news truly is: humankind’s universal sin, God’s provision of righteousness in Christ, and the Holy Spirit’s power to break sin’s hold. This week, we spotlight Paul’s crescendo in Romans 8:1–4—there is no condemnation for those in Christ, for Jesus accomplishes what we could never do, and the Spirit now leads us to genuine obedience.
